differance 73-74 b body bucket seats?? - 02/04/10 08:53 AM

lol now is prob not the best time to be asking after i already bought some seat covers for my 74 satellite but i thought it was just a typo in the add (71-73 b body) so looked in my year one cat. and they have 74 all by their self i bought new foam and covers and the pic looks dead on to my 74 covers?? what is the deal???

AFAIK 73-74 seat covers are the same. I know the one on my 73 parts car had the button upholstery on them same as the 74's. 71-72 had the ribbed style upholstery instead of the buttons. I like the 71-72 style seat covers better but I think the foam and seat frames are the same 71-74.

well my 74 has the buttons and look dead on to the ones in the add but add just says 71-73 the foam says 71-74 im just hoping i didnt just make a $300 mistake(for covers)
by the way nice sat. got any pics of the inside?

Looking at a 2005 Legendary Interiors catalog the only real differences I can see other than color differences is the grain style that is available. The 73's were available with Shallow Elk grain inserts and buttons with Cologne or Coachman grain skirts. The 74's were available with Shallow Elk grain inserts and buttons and Oxford grain skirts. So it appears the difference between the two years is the grain style of the skirts.

You won't have any problems, they will fit just fine. The interior in mine is home-made upholstery. I think I've got $150 total into the seats, headliner and package tray along with free labor from my mom.



Looks decent and the white stays very cool in the heat compared to other colors. Some day I'll upgrade to repro seat covers.

looks nice NOW where the heck did you get your door panels?????my orignal panels were total junk and the top has a few rips(junk) so iv been looking for some with no luck will 71-72 panels also work?

The 73-74 style upper door panels are around so take your time and find the best set you can for the money...And remember there's a few different styles for those years...I've seen earlier year upper panels on these cars also...I did a custom variation on a factory upper door panel on mine...

Mine are just stock sebring panels I repainted to a beamingly bright white.

But my parts car sebring plus panels are like the one's in screamin's pic. His look good, I don't care for the factory ones like that because the whole area that's white in his is fake woodgrain in the factory panels. I'm not a big fan of the fake woodgrain, but my panels only have a little of it, which I've been thinking of recovering with adhesive vinyl.

Are the plastic front and rear repro panels any good for these cars? Mine are kinda rough, I cleaned em up and repainted them, but up close you can see how light colored interior panels of these years didn't hold up well.

The upper 73-74 panels will not fit 71-72. Only the bottoms.
