Ok guys I need some opinions. I am trying not to make one of those big mistakes that you regret forever. I am sure not unlike most of you I have a few too many projects and I am considering selling one. Brief background – I have a 340 Duster, 79 Power Wagon with 50K miles, an 09 Challenger and a 70 Challenger. The Duster I have had since 86 and is restified, the Power Wagon is all original and mint, the 09 Chally is my daily driver and the 70 is the one in question.

I started on the 70 about 5 years ago and the body has gone through a rotisserie resto and has since sat due to new wife, new house, new garage and allot of shoes that came with the new wife.

I am considering selling the body and all the associated parts as it is going to take me several more years to finish the 70 and an additional $20-30K. I figure that I can take the cash and redo the suspension on the Duster and maybe add a blower, I can redo the top end of the truck and add a shaker to the 09 Chally – you get the picture….

Thoughts? Big mistake? Sell it!

I appreciate your input!

IMO If finished, you could easily make your money back and then some on that car since it is the biggest pedistal mopar. My decision would come down between the duster and challenger. My old man loves his A bodies while I'm more of a b body guy. He just finished a 20 year resto on his 67' Dart GTS. He went through 3 wives, 3 divorces, and multiple duty stations and deployments from being in the Navy for 23 years, and 4 kids. Then again he's had this car since high school and my grandfather sold it to him off his used car lot. I'd say keep the chally.

You know what they say about "a bird in the hand is worth...etc"

I had a '71 Duster with a done 340 auto and a done 6pack 4spd 440 Challenger.

They both screamed but the lighter Duster, even though it was an auto, seemed to be faster. Maybe it was because you could see the front of the car twist.

But ya, the Challenger looks cooler. I'd keep the car thats done and enjoy it now. You could be dead or broke tomorrow.

Dusters are cool, but near worth the money as a 70 Chally. If sell the Chally, regret it and want to buy another some day, it would be much more dollar intensive to replace than the Duster would be. I vote keep the Challenger, sell the Duster and use that money to finish the Challenger.

i think you should get rid of 09 challenger and keep both the real cars

As we get more experienced in life, I find there is less time to enjoy the people and things in life..
Sounds like you have a great collection and plenty of things to keep ya busy..
Just make sure you arent trading the Chally for more new shoes !
I made a choice to downsize last year and miss the car, but dont miss looking at it half done or spending time tinkering with that one when I have another project or two and not enough time or money to finsh either of them..

Considering either early MoPar would start rusting out in one or two Detroit winters as a DD, that has to be the most ill conceived idea I have heard in some time.

Keep the old Challenger. Its value is about to go back on the upswing again, unless the economy really isn't going to come back in the next 2 years. In that case, sell them all and hoard gold and lead...
