Question regarding color of hood on non-TA Challengers - 01/28/10 04:49 PM

I understand most (if not all) TAs came with an organsol fiberglas hood. Some references state that different color grilles (in addition to black, argent and bright silver) also were produced. I have also read that some TAs may have NOT had organsol painted hoods. I understand some non-TA Challengers also came with fiberglass TA hoods because of shaker shortages. Does anyone know if all these non-TA Challengers with fiberglass hoods had black hoods? Or were at least some body color?

All factory installed T/A & AAR (N94) fiberglass hoods were painted "organisol".

All '70 Challenger R/T & R/T SE cars (JS) have a black grill.

All non-T/A '70 Challenger cars (JH) have an argent grill.

All '70 Challenger T/A cars (JH + A53) have a black grill.

Any claimed exceptions to this would require substantial proof.

Not true! The "SHAKER" hood was re-introduced about the same time the T/A hood became an option on any non-SE 4bbl '70 Challenger.
Of the 4 known '70 Challengers optioned with the N94 hood, only one has its original hood & it was organisol.
Chrysler wouldn't have spent the time to make the T/A hood flat enough to look good in body-color glossy paint.
