Rear housing identification

Rear housing identification - 01/13/10 08:47 PM

Is there a part number stamped into the Mopar rear end housing? I have what I believe to be a rear housing from a 68 or 69 Roadrunner, but I'd like to confirm that. The spring perches have been cut off, so I can't take a measurement there. If there is a part number for just the housing, where would I look? Thanks.

I take it it is a 8 3/4 housing?

look in the archives for the axle sizes flange to flange on the housings

whats the flange to flange measurment on the housing you have?

No numbers as far as I know. What he said, measure your flange to flange distance & go to the archives & if they're all different & you find your dimention you got it.

It is indeed a 8 3/4" unit. Flange to Flange looks to be approximately 55 1/8", which according to the info I found in the archives would probably be 62-70 B-body. Thank you for the help.

62-65 is not as long as 66-70

The chart that shows the '62-'70 B body rears as being the same is wrong (I wish somebody would delete it), the correct info is here:
