440 Fuel Vapor Separator, Fuel Filter, Fuel Pump, Carbs

I have a 70 Challenger R/T 440 4bbl that I will be changing over to a six pack soon.

What is the correct order for the fuel line parts?

fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel vapor separator, carburetors

Not sure what you're asking...Mabe factory routing ???...Fuel tank should have the 3/8 sender with the return....Fuel exits tank,enters the fuel pump and gets pumped through the vapor separator where a certain percentage gets returned through the 1/4 inch return line...The rest goes to the carbs....

Let me try to ask it a different way. Once the fuel makes it to the engine compartment, what is the correct order or sequence for the fuel filter and fuel vapor separator to be mounted.

I currently have a fuel filter then the fuel pump then fuel vapor separator followed by the carbs. (fuel lines in between).

Is it okay to have the fuel filter before the fuel pump or will that restrict fuel or should that be after the fuel pump?

I know the fuel vapor separator is supposed to be between the fuel pump and the carburetors.

No filter before the pump from the factory.
The separator is your filter

Unless you would be assembling this for show,
which you aren't or you wouldn't be changing
intakes, I have installed filters before the
pump as you indicated in your first post.
I have never taken apart a vapor seperator
but I think it's just a screen filter.
The filter ahead of the pump will protect
the pump as well as the seperator & carbs.
The trucks just prior to f.i. had the filter
before the pump.

It's all about filtering vs restriction...Technically the first factory filter could be the sending unit sock in the tank...But if you're not using one or are unsure if it's there...The easy way out{as already stated} would be to add a filter at the rubber hose between the hard line and the fuel pump..Probably the worst place for the pump itself for performance but considering the rest is all hard line.. .. All you can do is get a good filter with the least amount of restriction...

I have a brand new sending unit and fuel tank. Should I remove the fuel filter before the fuel pump and just use the fuel vapor separator after the pump?
