Late model Chrysler techs, I have a question..... - 12/22/09 05:04 PM

What is the level of difficulty in R&R'ing a 3.5 engine in an '07 Charger? I haven't even looked under the HOOD of one yet, but I just got a call from a friend who has a friend that needs one changed. Any help or opinions would be mucho appreciated.

It's not too bad to do. I have done 1 and it took about a day to do.

If it is a AWD you won't believe how bad a job it is to do! 2WD looks easy but the AWD one I did took 35 hours.

Reckon I better find out if it is an AWD car.

Easier than the Hemis. Still a big job no matter what the drivetrain. I'd recommend pulling the radiator core support and front fascia (It just bolts on with a couple screws). so you can pull it straight forward instead of up and over.

Note that I am not a heavy line tech, just an electrical guy who does the occasional heavy line job.

Yea what went wrong. I've done rockers shafts that have rotated and cut oil supply to lifters.

Should have said the one I did was 2wd. It spun a rod bearing and was knocking.
