Front End Inspection - 12/19/09 02:56 AM

Any suggestions on inspecting a front end at home?

I am looking at rebuilding the front suspension of my cuda this winter, but I am not sure how far to take it and what needs to be replaced.

other than pulling the wheels off and visually inspecting the bushings etc. what can / should I do to determine if other components need to be replaced?

Thanks,

Jas

Place jackstands under the lower control arms and leave the steering colum unlocked. Lightly wiggle the tire up and down with your hands at the 12 ans 6 o clock positions to feel for play in the ball joints. Wiggeling side to side (3 and 9 o clock) will show any play in the tie rods, idler, and pitman arms.

Some times it takes another set of eyes while the you shake it down.
