C-body engine swap. - 12/12/09 06:52 PM

On a C-body engine swap from a /6 to a BB, there was an article somewhere many years ago that showed how to use some other model's motor mounts. Does anyone remember that article of what the article said?

The first person that says "Check with Schumacher" gets a .
They don't make a C-body /6 to BB adaptor...

Well you might want to check out S.... oh wait... scratch that...

I would personally buy 'regular' motormounts and build the brackets on the frame to match.

I already did that, once. Real PITA.

Was just looking for an easier way the next time around.

I'm already a member of that forum.
So I know already there is no info there.

Personally, I think www.moparfins.com/forum has more info.

You would seeing as how your a moderator there, with essentially past and present members of the Dock.

That being said, '65 to '73 would be the only years its a C body, and if you don't want to fab motor mounts, you can always swap the sub frame...

There were 74-78 C-bodies.

Fabbing the mounts would be easier than swapping out the whole subframe.

So, it goes back to my initial question, does anybody remember an old article that showed how to use existing mounts to drop in a BB in a C-body /6?

And I appreciated it. It just came out wrong.

Mopar made no real cars past '73

Other than having size incommon, the '65-'73 and the '74-'78 cars are two different animals all together...

Dana. . . We gonna start that again? LOL That falls under the catagory of the Imperial. Was it a C or wasn't it. (Let's not go there)

I thought Shoemacher made a mount to do that Stan. . .

just to chime in my I agree with 11secondC (Dana) the c-body changed completely after 73 and the Imperial was a "D" body

Swaping the front subframe is much easier, once you remove all the sheetmetal you can install your engine, trans, headers, etc. and all accessories before the body parts go back on.

So as long as we're on Moparts trying to get solid info about cars that are used for engine donors, just consider...
Nobody on this site has ever bothered to look at a /6 or LA C-body as there is nothing underhood that interests them.

I don't have your answer, but remember - the 65 C has a special motormount on the driverside.

My buddy had a 65 Fury 1 with a slant that we were going to bb, but the mounts were welded in, and so was the subframe. He decided the only easy way to do it was with elephant ears(motor plates).

Agreed! 100%
I know we're severely getting off-topic here but since I originated the thread, I feel it's OK.

The way it works is this:
I have an unbridled passion for "strippers".
No, not the kind my wife won't allow me to have, but, the two door post sedans with zero options, lots of delete items, a four speed, and a huge mofo of an engine. It's a throwback to my developemenatal years of the early sixties when there were no "muscle cars".
Savoy 413's, Biscayne 409's, Galaxie 406's... doesn't matter.
If I see a /6 3 speed, regardless what it's in, my brain goes into triple overtime.
