Upper Ball joint socket question - 12/12/09 03:15 PM

I know there are 2 sizes of Ball joint sockets.

Ive just purchased the "Small" Ball joint socket, according to the seller.

What applications of vehicles will this fit?

there are actually 3.
small is for a-bodies before 70 something. Either 73 or 76 but can't remember when they changed to the bigger.

Med is for most other cars.

Large is for trucks.

63-72 A bodies (maybe even earlier than that). Not sure if all '73 up A bodies went to the larger (B/E type) upper ball joint (& obviously needing the larger socket) or just the disc equipped ones.

My '73 swinger had big ball joint uca's with 10" drums and small bolt pattern. (/6 car)

I think when I say big ball joint I mean medium ball joint...

I think the 73 changeover was fuzzy for bolt pattern and brakes.

small socket is '72-earlier A-bodies, medium is '73-up A, All B and all E. Large is truck, van and C body. '73-6 A bodies with front drums had medium ball joints and small bolt pattern

c bodies use the med size not the large.
imperials might use the large, but I don't know for sure.
I know c bodies did not.
