Reverse valve body? - 12/03/09 11:48 AM
Why do I want one? whats the advantage and hype? Will it work with my stock slap stick or do I have to buy one of those wild looking things?
I have a 440 with a 727 trans to go into my cuda project and yes I intend to race it some.
get one with a low band apply
gotta watch getting on and off of it with out low band apply
hard and fast shifts and its in the gear you put it in at any speed/rpms
its for raceing

I am debating the exact issue! My trans in my AAR is on the fritz (doesn't downshift automatically), so now I'm always rowing that slapstick shifter - I hate it! Although I'd love all the other advantages of the full manual valve body.
Not an issue on a race car, but I getting sick of it for street driving - and I drive stick shift cars! The slapstick to me isn't user friendly (it's too small).
However, I just had a ride in a '70 Dart with a manual valve body and QuarterStick (don't know who makes it) shifter, that was awesome! Too bad it doesn't look stock, otherwise it would be a no brainer.
Very easy to keep the engine on the cam with manual valve body. Especially if you have a peaky powerband.

hey my friend has a 71 challenger with the stock shifter with a rmvb and all he did was grind the D to 2 detent down so the shifter would slip in with out pushing the button on the 1 to 2 shift then the next shift will be 2-3 the button must be still pushed like going from 2-1 on stock trans .
This seams to work great and smooth he has had like that along time with many differant motors in the car and the car now runs in th 9's in the 1/4 with no cage stock appearing interior and all steel body except for fiberglass hood .
