360 Oil pump fitting problems - 12/02/09 06:44 AM

Hey guys! So I just got done assembling my 360 short block. The bottom end is all stock except with ARP bolts.
I ordered a melling high volume oil pump and a car style pickup and the oil pump is hitting the ARP main bolt and it looks like the pickup wont work even if the oil pump did because the crankshaft would hit it. Its a stock stroke 360. Anyone else have any issue with this?

Thanks

I had an issue with the HV pump being taller and hitting the oil pan. I banged it out a little, had it rewelded, and grinded down the edge of the oil pump cover.

The small blocks are notorious for core/machining shift in the block. I had a 340 that I had to grind a considerable amount off the body of a HV pump to get it to clear the back of the pan. I also had to grind off some of a cam journal bearing that stuck out of the bore and interfered with a lifter seating against the cam lobe. When you looked at the block carefully, you could see the fore to aft shift of everything.
