Drive shaft length for 64 Ply Belvedere - 11/24/09 10:59 PM
Anyone know the dimensions center to center for a 64 ply shaft? I've added a 65 slip yoke tail housing. The car is apart with the trans out so I can't measure and there is one for sale here which is 52" c to c. Too short?

It would help to know, engine, trans and rear end sizes.

I'm putting a hemi in a 64 Belvedere with a 64 TF/65 slip yoke tail and 8 3/4 rear. I searched but don't see anything earlier than 66? Trans will mount to orig cross member.

Surprisingly, the drive shaft length is the same for the slip yoke and the B&T in a given car. Use the center of the pin on the B&T as a reference point for the center of the front u-joint.

Don't have the old shaft or trans in car. Need a dimension. The one for sale is 52"

The D/S out of my '65 bel II measures 53 7/16" center to center of the u-joints. That's from a 318, 727, 8 3/4 (if it makes any difference).

I was thinking 52" was a little short.

Do yourself a favor and wait until you have the engine and trans in place and then measure for the correct shaft. A 1/2" either way can cause a multitude of problems.
