brake distubution blk - 11/09/09 06:15 PM
got a ??? if a person swaps from 68 front drum to 75 front disc, does he have to remove the distubution block that was used on the factory drum set up??
Quote:Yes. You will need to replace it with a disc / drum type valve. Disc /drum valves hold off the pressure to the front discs until rear drum return spring pressure is overcome - about 150psi. Valves for 4 wheel drum brakes don't have that feature. They will both have the porportioning ( front to rear pressure differential feature though. Use the valve from the 75 car and you should be good to go.

Quote:The adjustable valve in the rear line is always a good idea, no matter what you are running for a porportioning valve ( or if you are using one at all ). We make so many changes to our cars that it is not likely that you will be able to find a proportioning valve that is spot on when it comes to front to rear brake bias for your particular application. A disc / drum PV will get you in the ball park, and an adjustable valve in the rear line will allow you to fine tune it for those big rear tires or that monster 440 that replaced that 6 banger, etc.
That or like I said leave it and install an adjustable one on the rear line.Ive had a few guys say they dont run a PP valve.I wouldnt try that though.Rocky
