360 A body motor mounts "help" - 11/05/09 06:12 PM

I don't understand whats going on with these mounts, but i'm sure the guy i bought them from gave me the wrong ones just like he did with the oil pan, he said they came off a 360 supposidly from a B body, who knows, can anyone tell me what they are from, mianly the "brackets", not the mounts, those were off of my 318, i installed them & took off the other mounts, those looked like early style that the long bolt goes through, i mocked up the engine & found the drivers side was off, way off. The car is a 71 318 Swinger with the bisket style mounts. If someone could help me out with the "right" brackets for these mounts, i would greatly apprieate it, because i'm sure they are the wrong ones, at least the drivers side anyways. The bracket on the left is the DS, it lines up with the 360 boss, but the mount sits way off to one side as you can see & the stud on the mount is wanting to rest about 2" behind where it needs to be on the K member

I called & talked to shoe-maker (because i can't spell it lol), he gave me some info, these B body brackets will NOT work on a A body, & sence they never put 360s in A bodies untill 74, running the earlier "bisket" mount K members leaves me with nothing the factory made, so i just installed both mounts from the 318, i could only bolt up the 2 front bolts on the DS mount, other then that, i'll have to buy new brackets from Shoe at 59.00 bucks a pop, it lined up great down in the bay, headers bolt up nice, i'll just run a torque strap/bar.

I have em buried so I couldn't check for you but those look awfully close to some E body mounts back when we fielded a 360 E body

...i think a 318 A body driver side mount works with a 3/8" spacer on the rear bolt or get a '68 -'72 340 driver side mount, they are the same as 360

I also had to use spacers to make mine fit on a 360 before.

You mention spacers for the DS 318 mount, but all i could put on were the 2 front bolts, the rear hole on my bracket is on the bottom, the hole on the block is on the top, there is a space between them, but you can't put a bolt through the 2 if that makes sence. So i'm stuck with just the 2 front bolts holding it on.

They look like b/e brackets.

There is a set up that works using factory parts.

You could use an A body drivers side biscuit factory 340 bracket and any pass side V8 bracket (they're all the same).

It's the biscuit hole location.

Here's a pic of an A body drivers side bracket, one is a 318 modded for 340/360 the other is a stock 318 mount.
