reverse broke on my 4 speed. Help

So the other day I wanted to back the charger in the garage and reverse was very hard to shift into for some reason. I tried a few times to get it into reverse and then I tried a little harder then snap. The tab that the linkage hooks up to snapped on the shifter. Any ideas as to why this would happen?

Got any Lube in the trans ?

well I filled it when I put the motor in about 3 years ago and it never leaked a drop so I would def. think so.

Try backing out the bolts on the side cover a little bit. Then push the side cover toward the top of the tranny while you tighten the bolts. There is a good possibility that you are binding reverse inside the tranny. This will solve that problem. I use to have to do this when I had an 833 in my Duster. If I forgot to do this I had a lot of trouble getting it into reverse.

or just park in places that you don't need to use reverse.
