65 dodge 4 speed question - 11/01/09 02:41 AM
Im building a 65 coronet and put the mockup block, bellhousing, trans in it today. Trans is a 70 hemi 4 speed and much to my surprise had a different trans mount location then the 65 trans. So my question is, Is there a bolt in trans crossmember/mount that works for a late trans in an early car or do i need to make something?

You could get a 69 hemi tailshaft and swap it out. It is more rearward than a 70. I have a fairly rare 69 hemi trans that has both mounting locations.

I'm doing a similar swap - 66 and up 4 speed 23 spline into my 65 coronet that was originally an auto car.
I checked with Imperial Services and they said they have a trans mount that will allow me use my 65 auto trans cross member. You might check with them and see if they have a trans mount that will work with your 65 manual trans cross member. Or find an auto trans cross member from an early B-body and use their 4spd trans mount adapter.

it has the stock 318 poly k-frame, I made my auto trans cross member into a stick crossmember and when i bolted it all up yesterday, I was like Wow. guess i shouldn't have cut up that crossmember yet

Brewers had drop in crossmemeber and mount for this application. I just bought it a few weeks ago and installed it last week.
My car is a 65 coronet 318/727 stock k member. Switching to a 440 1968 4 speed 23 slpine.
They modify the 65 auto cross member to accept a 68 tranny mount. The cross member is $139 plus exchange or $40 core charge. The poly mount was $89. The have them in stock.
Brewers is great to do business with.
