Somebody is having some serious linkage problems...

Mind this is going in a 1968 Charger, 440/ 727....I think those are A-Body linkage but it looks like I am staring at the passenger side #2 cylinder with the throttle linkage over it....

That looks like the kickdown linkage for a A body.

Large vacuum inlet is normally in the rear of the manifold so that does look right.

For some reason the runners look longer to the right side of the picture...

May just be the angle it was taken from. It's not sitting on the table straight.

At 1st. it looked backwards, but now i see the large vacuum port so its on right, whats up with that linkage?

If you think it don't look right now, wait till you flip it around and see how it looks backwards. (the manifold). It's on right, you'll have to maybe do the locar thing.

Look closely at a correct setup"

No it's installed in the correct position , the manifold doesn't really care if the vac port is in the front or the rear .
The linkage is NOT A body anything , that's a 72 up 1 piece setup and it's NEVER going to work properly, nevermind it's missing the mpar throttle adaptor and that angle for the throttle cable is going to cause issues .
It's needs Andyf's hise rise throttle adapter bracket to correct the throttle cable angle, the mopar linkage adapter and a bouchilion throttle valve linkage cable to the carb because the one piece setup is not going to work with that manifold .

Then don't worry about it. Let the owner learn from his mistakes just like the rest of us.

I just like having the answer at my disposal when he approaches me to fix it for him. I'll make sure to charge him extra special for it.

Linkage is odd and problaby wont work good at all..and his transmission is going to burn up.

Re: Is this carb on backwards? - 10/31/09 12:41 PM
Well its a 727....but on my setup 440/727 again, I have the carb adapter hooked up to the throttle cable correctly. I didnt take the picture. I am just puzzled by wanna be mechanics....This is the same mechanic who installed his alternator on right in front of his fuel pump...an inch away from his subframe to "clean up the engine bay"....
Now the guy who is assembling this car is saying he took it from a 73 Charger with a 318...I still don't think he has a kickdown linkage. Its going to be funny when he finds his transmission all over the street here.

other then the funky linkage set up, looks ok to me.
