Best source for wiring harnesses?

Best source for wiring harnesses? - 10/23/09 12:27 AM

I'm working on a 1973 Cuda for a friend of mine and there are more splices, cracked wiring and electrical tape in the engine compartment than I'm comfortable sending down the road on a car that I've worked on.
I'm chasing an electrical problem if you can believe that!
What is the best sources for electrical harness? I'm looking for function over factory/concourse correct. I see Year One has the engine harness for about $160.
Any better prices or better quality out there?
I'm probably going to have him replace all of the forward harnesses.

If you want stock style wiring Year One is the only distributor as far as I know. There are several generic replacement harnesses - Painless offers one - but you probably would need the whole deal since connectors will be different. There was a Year One discount code in the hot deals section - worth a check if its still there and if it applies.

Year One has a deal with the only producer of quality harnesses. Search the board, there are lots of threads about this.
I lucked out on my 73 with only good cleaning and re-wrapping needed for the engine and lighting harnesses under the hood.
The dash harness had some petrified vinyl in it from overheating but you can score non-Rally harnesses pretty cheap on ebay since a lot of dashes have been converted to Rally. Just swiped the wires out of the used harness and re-wrapped them into my survivor harness.
