How do you clean stuck fuel injectors - 07/10/08 10:27 PM

I finally got the 5.7 Hemi installed in my 69 rr convert and it's almost ready to go. Found out last night the fuel injectors are stuck.....varnished from old gas. Had 60psi fuel pressure and no fuel to engine. Checked injectors with noid light and they are getting the signal to fire. Pulled injectors and they all smell like sour gas. Soaked them all night in lacquer cleaner. Anything else I can try or should I just get new injectors?

A good shop should have a machine that can flow cleaning solution through them. I'd be concerned with soaking them in thinner, though.

They should be able to be cleaned. I have had some that were completely blocked that were able to be cleaned. Here in Illinois I am generally charged somewhere around $15 per injector. Try to find a diesel truck repair facility. They usually have the equipment. If not here is who does mine: www.gregbatesautomotive.com
