Need a good, inexpensive fuel pressure regulator

Need a good, inexpensive fuel pressure regulator - 10/12/09 03:25 PM

Any recommendations? For the New Yorker. 440, 4bbl carter, 3/8" line, carter elec fuel pump rated at 6psi.
The carb really wants ~4psi, so an adjustable pressure regulator in the 3-6psi region will work.

Tried all the local stores. AutoZone had one for $25 bucks made by Spectre that was junk, worked great for 1 fire up, then shut off/stuck closed and we couldn't get it to work again and returned it.

The cheap Holley's seem to be reliable...

Sounds just like the one I got.. a year ago, so it's too late to return

I'm also looking for a good one...

Holley 12-803BP 4.5-9 psi

Here is the site with other holley regulator options available.

You should be able to get these thru your local parts store that can get hipo stuff.

I believe the first one has: one input and 2 outputs.
I put an elbow on one of the outlets and screwed in a small pressure gauge.
It works great, had it on there for a few years now.

The cheapie Summit regulator says Holley right on it.

I have a unused Summit regulator laying around here some where. Uses regular pipe barbed fittings.

Interesting, apparently the 12-803BP is not to be used with mechanical fuel pumps.

The 12-803 is $27 at Summit, and the Summit brand is $25. I guess they're fine to use with mechanical pumps.

Don't use the Mr Gasket either, same junk as the Specter...
