Clutch Shudder

Dang it!!!!! Now we�re getting massive clutch shudder and it drives me crazy!!!!! Feels like the whole rear end is hopping up and down like a old school lowrider.

Car�s been running fine but then I started getting a bad hop when taking off. Reving it helps but I shouldn't have to do that.....

No oil puddles under the car so there isn�t oil leaking from the engine or tranny, unusual for a MOPAR, so I doubt there is oil getting on the flywheel.

I have seen where some have said a dry input shaft could cause it or a binding pilot bearing. Any of you know if that is a possibility? The pilot bearing is brass so I figured it would just grind down. I think I greased up the input shaft but cant remember for sure..... Dang it!!!

Man, I hate the thought of pulling the tranny again��

Looks like I may not have a choice though�..

Any of yous guys got any thought on this?

Inspect the clutch, damaged springs, bad face, warped pressure plate?

Check for broken motor or trans mounts, worn clutch linkage and/or loose or missing pressure plate bolts.

Aren't these problems noticeable with "shaking" from the front end instead of the rear?

You are not supposed to grease the input shaft pilot or splines. The factory service manual says to put grease in the bearing instead. If you grease the input shaft it is almost impossible to get the shaft through the disc hub without getting any on the hub. if you get any on the hub or splines it will sling out on the disc and cause chatter.

I've always smeared a bit on the throwout bearing sleeve, face, pivot points on the fork, the input shaft spline, pilot bushing or bearing and never had any issues.

If and if it's a problem, a tiny bit of grease on the clutch will burn off in a hurry. It's not a constant feed of grease, just a bit of run off.

Good point. I pretty sure I didn't grease it up but after I had heard about it I started to wonder if I did or not. I know I greased up the bearing though.

Solid Tranny mount with poly motor mounts. It is definately from the rear.

I'm pulling the tranny out as soon as the weather cools down.
