Electrical- Lights flickering bright/normal volts 14-15 - 10/09/09 02:54 AM

So my voltmeter is bouncing between 14-15volts and the lights flicker bright/normal/bright/normal rapidly when the car is running. Simple question is, what would cause this?

change out your voltage regulator.

You ahve a mechanical voltage regulator.

They are adjustible, but they make an electronic version that does a better job. I'd get one of them.

My car was doing something similar. The lights would flicker noticably while driving, would dim really bad at stoplights. It finally blew out a fusible link. Found out there was an internal short/ground inside the alternator when I got it tested. Replaced the fusible link and alternator and all symptoms are cured.
