Picture of 413 truck head? - 10/06/09 10:29 PM

Can anyone post one?

I was just looking at a 72 motor home with an RB motor.
The plugs are over the manifolds, and angled towards each other, like a small block.
Defiantely RB (stamping pad) I've never seen a 440 with these heads, so I am assuming it's a 413.

Thanks

Thanks!

Yes that is what they look like.

I didn't realize they were closed chamber heads. They can't have quench can they? Slug must be a fair ways down the hole. Theya ren't know for good compression ratios

They make very good compresion when installed on a later 440 that had the 906 heads.

No quench... they're dished pistons I bet 30cc or so and the slug on mine is .050 in the hole. Not sure how you would use the heads on a passenger car without some custom build headers ($$$) the manifolds look like chivy ram horns with the flange in the center

I've always wondered, I know those things are monsters, almost twice as tall as a regular head. Could they be ported to flow better than a standard type head?

I'm planning on using the entire motor in a 3/4 ton for a pulling rig.
I figure it would be very well suited for that.

It's in a motor home. She claims it ran, but hasn't been able to start it.
She want's 500 for the whole thing. The rest of the rig is crap.
Apparently there have a been a bunch of people phoning. A guy looked at it on the weekend, but lost interest when it wouldn't start. Another guy said he was going to look tonight.

I figure I'll let things simmer for a few days, as it is quite ugly, and I can't imagine anyone actually buying it to camp in.
Then offer her 300, assuming it will start and seems to be a decent runner. I figure the shell will cost me some money to get rid of, as the wreckers don't like them around here. Too much wood.

advertise the parts off the RV! they just might make you some$$. I bought a hidious 1974 winnebago for the 440(paid $400) and managed to sell the A/C,refer, and the big, budd style wheels for $400! free 440!

Good idea. I'll still low ball her though. I really don't see it going anywhere.
