I think those would use the rear mount bosses, like the E body

I think they came that way if the car had a bench seat. i remember pulling one like that from a 73 Roadrunner that had that adapter plate on it.

Didn't they use the funky trunion design until 66?

answer; '70-'71 D100

reason;
it has the '66-up slip yoke, '70-up twin shifter mounting point, shifter is too high for a '72-up D100, must be for a '70-'71 D100.

my doubts to my answer;
not sure if D100s were built at St Louis?
if pp is the part #, it's an early '60s trans but why the slip yoke and twin mount tailshaft?

4521 = 12/13/1973 on the 10k Day Calendar

Has the long tailshaft (B/E/Truck), but the stick looks way too short for use in a pickup.

Can't be from a B-series van, as none were factory floor-shifted.

I will say '74 Plymouth Satellite Sundance.

The platform at the base of the chrome shifter stem is unlike any I've ever seen. AMC product maybe,... more specifically, some jeep product...?

I've seen B100s from the '80 with floor shited 833od's, length of that 3spd appearsthe same.
OK, I'm changing my answer, it's from a '73 B100.

The shifter mounting bracket extends pretty far back. Wouldn't that be pretty awkward trying to shift gears with that in a van? It would be like reaching behind the seat to shift.

Re: Let's play "Guess The Application" 3 Speed Transmission - 07/09/08 05:34 AM

The shifters were turned around backwards on those vans.... I drove more then my fair share of them. We did grafix paint work on the price leader at Pete Ellis Dodge, van conversions, back in 83-84. WEIRD looking to say the least and awkward to drive.

My Guess... Truck 70-71... Shifter placement

Re: Let's play "Guess The Application" 3 Speed Transmission - 07/09/08 10:09 AM

The shifter mount is a three bolt triangle pattern. I have a 4 spd shifter that mounts the same way, except mine has two finger levers to pull up on for reverse.
So with that in mind , I'm guessing Its from a 1966 fwd p/u although the tranny seems to be 73 vintage ?????????

I had a 3spd that came from a 71 340 Duster and the shifter handle was the same at the base. 3 bolts I believe

Doesn't matter anyway; unless I have no idea what I'm looking at, this is an A230 all-synchro 3-speed manual and the A230's weren't introduced until 1970. With that shifter mounting, I'd think it has to be from a truck or van; no car shifter would sit that high.

Can't be. Here's a 4-speed van shifter bolted to an A-833 O.D.:

BTW, is that an Inland shifter? Which plant does "G" represent in the partial VIN?

Ok guys, more clues.

#1. It's a 1973-74 Vehicle application
#2. It's definately a Mopar application
#3. The tail shaft and side cover are aluminum, main case is cast iron

Re: Let's play "Guess The Application" 3 Speed Transmission - 07/11/08 03:44 AM

I just took two of those trannys to the scrap yard (alum tail and side cover). One was from a 73 cuda (a real cuda, 318 3spd) and the other was a 318 3spd road runner with a bench seat. I remember the shifter in the road runner sitting pretty high up in the boot. I still have the shifter, extension and linkage here somewhere, now I gotta go look at it when I get off work tomorrow.

Got to be some sort of C-body application since nothing else looks like that. I can't remember seeing a 3-spd floor shift (or even column shift) '73-4 C-body though.

All I know is I can recognize a left handed smoke shifter when I see one.

Re: Let's play "Guess The Application" 3 Speed Transmission - 07/11/08 06:24 PM

73/4 b-body

IIRC I have had that shifter/ bracket in hand B4, but it was out of a 71 RR.. so because of the date codes it would be 73 and up...
