489 case - 09/15/09 03:01 AM
Is there a difference between the small numbers 489 and the LARGE 489 ON THE CASE. Just wondering if the small numbers were to a specific year or model.

I picked up the entire rear end today and the 489 case letters are approx. 1/4 inch tall really small compared to all the other chunks I have come across. Just wondered if there was a difference, besides the number sizes.

I've noticed 3 different 489 castings.
The third-member I buit you, as well as the core you sent me were both '72-'74 vintage.
If you can post a picture of the latest 489 case, I may be able to tell you the approximate year it was cast.

It maybe a week or so before I get back to it, thanks. The numbers seem to be no more than 1.5 inches long and 1/4 inch tall. Just never seen any that small, I knew I should have taken a picture of it this afternoon.
