SMR Shortie OD - 09/07/09 06:16 PM

Still looking at overdrive options and automatics as well. Has anyone seen or used the SMR Shortie? It's only 7 1/4" longer then a stock 727, I'm just waiting on a price quote from them.

Also waiting on a price for the Keisler automatic -yes I know it's of GM origin-

Again anyone with experiance

That's probably a Gear Vendors unit. I have no experience with it, but it's a nice unit from all that I've seen posted here over the years. They were also used in many motor homes. It allows gear splitting to maximize the power band of your engine, but the .78:1 OD ratio is not as sweet as the Chrysler .69:1 OD ratio.

It is a gear vendors but they use a shorter tailshaft supposedly making it so there are no fitment issues in any car that had a 727 or 904. Just curious if that's true of a-bodies

The GV OD unit is wider all the way around than the stock tailshaft. I'd like to see some mock up pics, measurements, or some dimensional proof that it's a bolt on every car application.

Just show at least one install picture on the website.

Yea Pat showed it all to me this spring looks cool!
We would have went that way on da beast II's 69 super bee but we had already installed the regular.
I have a short motor home shaft that pat uses in the garage. Da Deast 2 runs 2600 rpm at 85 mph with the gear vender and ran 12.87 on the week end and one 1/8 that would have been a 12.2 shifter problems all day Saturday so he is going pro ratchet (he has a reverse manual and the shifter upgrade to the stock 69 shifter did not work out??)

Have they tried it in an a-body?

I'm looking for the no cut to bare minimum cut method and can't hack the 6 grand with shipping for the Keisler 5 speed.

Still waiting on a quote for there auto though.
