Trouble with fender tag codes

Trouble with fender tag codes - 09/05/09 04:41 AM

Hi all,
I have an export challenger with some codes for which I couldn't find references. I know many people on here can rattle the codes off in their sleep, so here is the fender tag:

Y09 EN2
EB5 C16 M21 N41 R11
EB5 H6B5 000 C19 E33019
E63 D21 JH23 NOB

I know that it's blue/blue 383 Magnum 4spd with console and buckets, dual exhaust (no tips), and an AM radio. But what is with the '000' and C19? The car has the big export tag on the driver's inner fender. Seems like a sleeper of sorts? Basically an R/T with a flat hood and no tips.

Thanks for your help!

000 upper door frame paint - none.

C19 - SPD (Scheduled production date) December 19, 1969 (1970 model year)

Do you have Y11 on your broadcast sheet?

Oh, shoot. I don't know why I didn't realize that the C19 was the SPD. I used to know a lot more than I do now...

Thanks for clearing that up!

I haven't found a broadcast sheet in the car (I bought the car with no carpet and a black seats, though I haven't looked on top of the glovebox). What would Y11 mean?

Have you looked for sheets inside both bucket seat backs?

Y11 would mean that the car was ordered from overseas by a US serviceman for pickup on his return home. A lot of "export" cars never left the states.

The buckets and rear bench are not original to the car. The car had a black interior when I bought it, but was originally blue, so I'm pretty sure that any broadcast sheet is long gone. I've never bothered to look for it, and I've owned it for years!

I'm quite certain that the car never left the States, but was ordered by a serviceman while overseas (as you suggested). There are a lot of bases in the area and the car is pretty local, judging by the old titles that came with it.

It's a great project (possibly even the proverbial "easy resto"), but nothing special. Over the years, I've been extremely tempted to find a trashed R/T and use all the parts from this car on it, but just never found the right car. So this thing will probably get rebuilt at some point...

you're missing the "C55" in the 3rd row

Pretty rare car on its own. Per GG's "white book".

1970 Challenger (JH23N0) w/4-speed
454 US + any Export and CANADA cars

there's one of the 949 (JH23N0) w/automatic in my backyard
rolling shell, but was - FC7 H6X9 A62 H51 P31 R35
(if it makes it back to the road it will have a flat hood on it)

The seats you have may have broadcast sheets in them for someoneelse's car, so please do check when you can?
