904 slips at startup - 07/03/08 07:04 PM

I wrote about this trans here a few weeks ago as it had a flair between 1st and 2nd. Adjusting the bands took care of it. Being concerned about that, I forgot to mention that this trans slips at startup. This only lasts about 5 to 10 seconds, and then it's fine and very strong with no slipping. When I had the pan down to adjust the bands, I saw that it was very clean inside with no burn smell. The old fluid was also very clean and bright red. Still, I changed the fluid and filter (which was pretty clean itself). I can't figure out this initial slipping (to better explain it, the car pulls very lightly on first putting it into any gear, then a few seconds later pulls fine). Any ideas?
Thanks!

Sure its not just converter drainback.

Fire the car up cold, shift into neutral for 10 seconds or so to get the fluid pumping, then go drive and see if it still slips.

i would do that for a minute in neutral , it takes maybe 45 seconds to CHARGE the circuits , a minute you know EVERYTHING is charged and a better indication of whats possibly going on ????

Yes, reving it up in nutural a few times and it's good to go. I also noticed that it only does this in the mornings when fully cold (after initial startup in the mornings it's fine for the day). Is this the converter leakdown you mentioned? I assume this isn't a problem to be too concerned about.
