How many quarts?

I recently had to use a big block truck rear sump pan for a low deck to clear what i needed. How many quarts of oil does this factory rear sump hold???

5 qrts with filter

5 quarts plus the filter or 5 quarts with the filter?

Depends on the year. A lot of the trucks were 5 and 6 with the filter.

mine was 5 with the filter

the way I do it is run 5 qrts in it check next AM and top it off

mine is a factory replacement, and I have to run 6 quarts in the pan just to get it to register on the dipstick. that's after I pre-fill the oil filter with a quart

Really! My '79 360 van takes 6.5 qts.
