71 E Body Wiper Motor ?? For Jules perhaps?

I have a 71 Chally with the variable wiper motor PN 3431077. My problem is, when I turn on the key, i get a major draw of current from the wiper motor (in the off position). Also, when I turn on the switch, it only goes one speed and never parks correctly. I've tried another switch with the same result.

Is it just that I need to rebuild the unit or am I experiencing some other phenomenon I'm unaware of? Thanks for any help guys.

The problem 98% of the time is with the switch but try this first.
Disconnect the linkage from the motor and try the switch again.
If you get the same result then there is a problem with the switch or
a bad ground. Make sure the motor and the switch is properly grounded.
Make sure all your terminals have good clean contacts. If you tried another
switch did you ground the housing of the switch when you tried the test?
