70 340 Duster - 08/17/09 04:23 AM

I looked at a 70 340 Duster and took the info off the fender tag - does anything look "unusal" - car needs some body work (not a surprise). Column shift car.

I decoded a Fender Tag and was wondering about some of the "options".

Also does anyone know about the Export dusters (numbers produced or is this common to see (read the fender tag break down).

The 8 is a B, for Hamtramck, not export.

If it were an export car it would by Y09, not Y05.

Yet another reason that most online decoders suck.

Thanks for the replies. I know this may sound silly but the car has had the outer fenders, hood and trunk lid replaced, rust around the whee the window meets the trunk lid, surface rust in the trunk, some surface rust in the inner fenders - odometer says 56K and has been stored since the earlier 90's. There is no collision damage that sticks out - original engine, transmission - no mods down that I can see - just needs body work. Car has poly glass tires. Just trying to figureout if it is worth the time it wiil take to get it on the road.

I heard the ocean air really tough on cars out there. Is that true?

I am originally from Florida and would have not thought so - lived near the ocean the entire time. If you let the car go then it plays a role in it - but so far my car (70 Barracuda) has not suffered unduly from it. I would be more worried about driving in snow or putting up with salt on the roads. There are a number of cars out here and I have heard more about the preception than about it actually having an effect.
