I am going to strip my chrome bumpers and paint them. What can i use to do so? I would take it a paint remover would not work so what are my options?

You can apply powdercoat primer right over chrome and then put the paint on.

If you don't want to do that then 80 grit on a orbital sander would rough them up good followed by a couple layers of epoxy primer and then paint.

far easier to sand/scuff and then prime and paint. Use a DA sander. It takes a fair amount of agression and time. Make sure you get all of it scuffed. 120 grit is a good start. Primer will fill minor pitting/scratching.

If you have an industrial metal finishing business near you, you could ask and see if they will vat them for you to remove the chrome. I have a place near me that will do small stuff for bags of sausage biscuits, Krispy Kreme donuts, etc. They have helped me out a lot. Hopefully you can find a similar place.
