restarting engine - 06/29/08 01:55 PM

71' 340 Duster. I've been working on a restoration of my car for about 7 months and soon I'll be ready to crank it up. Is there anything I should do to the engine prior to starting it? i. e. manually turning it over, oil in the cylinders, etc?.

thanks

If you want to got thru the process of priming the oil system, would be better.
I would think at the least, pull the plugs and spin it over til you get Oil Pressure.
Other than that, just fire it up.

If it has been run - make sure that it has a good charged battery and start it. Hell look at all the seasonal engines that are put up in the fall and not started again till summer. No big deal.

If the engine has been rebuilt. Yes, prime it before starting.
