03 neon sunroof not working need help

My daughters 03 neon sunroof stopped working. Can someone give me a idea what to check for? Thanks, Mike

did you check the fuse?

getting juice , ran slow for a few days, now no worky

You'll need a new track/motor assy..... And after you install it disable the switch so that it never opens again. That is the only way it will not happen again.

common problem I assume?

Is it hard to get to? How hard is it to get the headliner out? Mike

Lay the seats back, grab your cordless screw driver and get to work. They come out pretty easy. Drop it, turn it, comes out the door. From there you can see first hand what's wrong. Can't remember ever "repairing" one, but most the track assy gets replaced. Funny thing is I ordered a sunroof assy for a Saturn one time and it looked just like the Neon one.

I chewed up the motor drive gear on mine.

Replaced it and then the track assembly went out 2 months later.

Just get it closed and never open it again.

Not necessarily. The rattle you hear could just be the sliding headliner-covered "inner door" disengaaged from its tracks and rattling. This door rides in a seperate track (and is a seperate headache) from the sunroof glass.

Once you get the headliner out, pull the motor first but leave the power and test it. Also check the drive gear. If it's not the motor, then it's the tracks.
