New Brakes for the 65 Dart Drag car?

New Brakes for the 65 Dart Drag car? - 07/22/09 06:10 PM

I'm trying to hook up my new disk brakes. I have a scare bird front set up with Lumina calipers and corvette rear calipers. (I hear Chebby parts can slow you down) I have a 79 Volare. Can I use The Volare master, Prop. valve-divider block system with the new brakes on my Dart??
Even if the Volare had front disk and rear drums?
Thanks
Kevin

It would work & get you started then see how the proportioning ends up being & might be close as is and stick a drill bit deep into the drum half of the M/C to make sure it doesn't have an rpv in there

Weight is a primary concern on a drag car. Factory type disk brakes are heavier than drum type brakes. I ended up using Wildwood race front disks on my '65 Dart drag car. Tey are about the same weight as the little factory drums that had the 4" bolt pattern. I used 11" drums on the 8 3/4 rear.

Don't use a disc/drum factory combination valve on an all disc car.
