Intake Question - 07/16/09 02:23 AM

I have a 413 intake from a truck/industrial block, I had a guy email me asking if it would fit his 383. The 413 being an industrial motor had the huge heads with extra cooling passages and the intake has extra cooling passages. So will it fit the 383 and will the extra passages be an issue? BD

Aside from the issue of having cooling passages in the intake which normal manifolds don't use, a 413 is an RB and a 383 is a B engine, so different width intakes.

It has been my understanding that 383's had 906 heads from 68-70, the same heads used on the 440 so if B & RB engines use the same heads, shouldn't they be able to interchange intakes? -BD

NO.Heads are the same but blocks are different. The RB is wider.Thats why its called RB not B.Rocky

Heads will interchange between B & RB engines yes - but intakes won't do to deck height making RB intakes much wider.

Only time a RB intake will fit a B engine is when you run Stage 6 MP heads.
