What should the point gap be on a single point distributor on a stock internal 383 with an Edelbrock performer intake and 650 double pumper carb and headers?
What about the dwell?
points gap about .017 and about 30* dwell IIRC

.016" & 30. You can lower the point gap a few thou which wii increase (lengthen)the dwell(the # of degrees(time) the points are closed which will give more coil saturation(a hotter spark) but slightly shorten the points service life.

Most of the singles that I had seemed to be 30-31 at .014"

thinking way back, I recall 28-32 being exceptable...I would shoot for the high side, that way, when the rubbing block wears, the dwell will still be in range...

The problem with factory aluminum Mopar single point units is that "they are so bad", even the "tighter ones" that often, you had to "fudge" the dwell/ gap to come to a "happy medium" EVERYTHING in those units changes with rpm, vacuum, etc. You can only see this clearly on a 'scope.
My recollection--and I haven't worked with any of these for years--is that they tend to go towards "open" (points gap) as rpm/ vacuum goes up
