The motor has an Edelbrock Torker 2 on it now. I'm thinking of changing to a dual plane performer 2 intake. This is a street car not a racer. Lunarti 603 cam 800 CFM carb MP electronic ignition. What are your thoughts on the performer 2 intake?

I'd say the Edelbrock Performer 2, is a good performance street choice, for your intended use......A Holley 4780 model 800 cfm carb would be a good choice, I know you don't like Holleys, but the 4780 is a no frills performance carb, very reliable, easy to tune, and stay tuned, the only upgrade you might want to do is an electric choke?

If by "Lunarti 603 cam" you mean a Lunati 60303 then I can attest that a Edelbrock performer RPM works very well on 440. Slightly better than a Holley Dominator as stated in Hot Rods evaluation a few years back. I've ran both.

The Holley Street Dominator or the Eddy Performer RPM intake are the best for you. I run the Holley SD and I love it. Nice low end and nice up top. Works great on my mild 440. My son uses the Performer RPM on his 400 and it also works great. These are the 2 best intakses for a mild 440 in my opinion. Ron

I use the rpm on my 440 simular set up with a holley 750dp runs great.

Which of the 2 would you recomend? There is the low profile and the high rise version of the performer intake? This is a street car. Looking for good power down low. Something to give it a good kick in the pants when you mash the pedal. I have the electric choke set up. Works very well. The torker doesn't seem to make real power under 3500 RPM. Would like something that made power from off idle to 5000. Just a good tire frier red light to red light car.

Both of the aove intakes sacrifice a BIT torque off-idle compared to stock or an Eddy Performer (not performer RPM) so you could be happier with the EP, but of course you'll be giving up some midrange and up power.
The HSD and EPRPM are both taller than stock, the EPRPM is about 3/4" taller than the HSD.

My Jensen is a mild 440, I have a different vision of what a mild intake should be....

Stock heads or ported or aftermarket?

If you've got stock heads I would highly recommend the edelbrock CH4B intake, they pop up here and on ebay used for a good price. In hot rod's 383 intake shootout, the 383 version of the CH4B (the DP4B) performed on par with the RPM and IIRC the DP4B gave better bottom end power than the RPM when both were tested against a stock headed 383. When they went to CNC ported edelbrock rpm heads then the RPM had about a 30hp lead over the DP. And even with the aftermarket heads, under 5000rpm there was not much difference between the two, so for a 5000rpm 440, especially one with stock heads, I'd take a good look at the CH4B. Low rise, very stockish looking intake.

Question on this subject...What about the Mopar M1 single pane intake...for the 383 and 440
Are these good intakes to use on a 452 stroker or 511 stroker??

I like the Eddy RPM but it is a bit higher then stock and you need to be sure it would fit under your hood. Thats why I went with the Holley SD as it sits lower like a stock intake and it peforms great. If it will be mostly a street car I would go with the RPM if it will fit but as I said the Holley SD is very good also and for racing I like the SD as it's a single plane intake. Ron
