turn signal fuse blowing but why? - 06/26/09 02:44 AM
tonight i went fishing and was soaked so i decided to turn the heater on. when i turned it on a fuse blew but the heater stayed on. i soon noticed that the fuse was for the turn signals. why would the heater blow that fuse and keep running? i put in a new fuse and can use the turn signals but if i turn the heater on it blows. i dont want to go with a bigger fuse for saftey reasons. all suggestions welcome.

The heater is blowing the TS fuse?. With those being seperate systems I think I'd start at the fuse box(the common point), not much help but I think I'd start there & start looking for whats touching(shorted)

You probably have a bad place right in the harness between the fuse box and the two switches. First thing to do is take a good look right around the fuse box, otherwise, I'm afraid untaping the harness is the deal. Take a GOOD look at it's routing/ hanging: IS there any sharp corners, like stretched around a sharp corner, etc?

oh my i never noticed how massive and complicated the underdash wiring harness is. decided to go from the main ignition feed with a fuseable link to the dash and put push buttons in for each side of the turn signal.
