I always find 741's and 489's in my junkyard travels. The 742 is a rare bird in these parts.

since the last year for factory install for the 742 was the 68 model year I'd say finding a 742 FACTORY installed in a 69 would be very rare , 70 not al all .

489 and 741's for 69 and up .

of course someone will chime in saying they have a 70 wit ha factory installed 742

Thanks. The reason I ask is that the 3.23 are getting harder and harder to find and I want to have a couple of ring/pinion sets set aside for later use.

I have a 70 with a factory installed 742.. It was custom ordered by smokey yunick in his drag camaro. The guy that ordered it was a friend of Lee Iacocca who gave a COPO order to ship it over to Chevy.. Very rare.. I have paperwork from GG verifying its a "one of none"..... LOL

Since "most" is the question I'd vote for the 741, no proof just a notion.
