Tire Age Question - 06/21/08 12:56 PM
I have an original set of Polyglass GT radials that came off a 77 Charger, the have about 4K on them. They where on for about 6 months, still have the little rubber [Edited by Moparts - Keep it clean] all around them. They where in a climate controlled garage all their life and there are no visible signs of aging.I was thinking of putting them on my 78 Magnum. So what do you guys think, how good are they, can they be trusted?

I would not. Rubber ages (unless it's in a completely dark vacuum). You can use them for show and what-not, but I wouldn't drive on them, ESPECIALLY if you are used to modern radials!

Dry rot happens whether or not they are stored out of the weather. Good enough for a trailer Queen but not for a real driver.

Many safety organizations recommend replacing all tires every 6 years regardless of mileage, I read miltary has similar replacement interval.
