Fan shroud opinions. - 05/24/09 08:30 PM

I decided to go with a belt driven fan blade and not the electric fan.

I have a shroud I pulled off of a slant six 76 dart that I fabbed up some brackets to bolt it to the griffin radiator for my 360.

It seems to be really working much better and giving me much nicer cooling but I still have a gap at the top and bottom between the shroud and radiator.

I am looking for ideas as what to use to cover these gaps.
Should I use flexible metal or rubber?

I will paint it all semi flat black when I'm finished but I'm shooting for functionality over looks although it should look much nicer after I paint it all up.

If that shroud was larger, it would be more effective. I had a similar though smaller gap around mine on my '63, and found a seal for it. Go to restorationspecialties.com and look up part # BZ634. It's a push-on weatherstrip that will attach to your shroud and has a 1.240 "lip" on it. Figure 8-10 feet of it to surround your shroud.
On plastic shrouds, I clean them and armorall them.

Can you move the shroud closer and mount the brackets onto the other side of the shroud? Maybe shim it with some washers if needed or clearance the mounting tabs a bit with the dremel if you need to...
