help with tire width

i would like to find out what is the widest tire i can mount on 14"- 4" small bolt pattern original rallye rim i think it is 5" wide it is on my 73 dusterjust trying to find out how wide i can go and it still fit on rim, thanks

5" wide rims? not a very wide tire...maybe a 215-225 at most? what I do is figure out about what size tire I WANT to run, then go to various tire manufacturer websites and look at what they spec out rim wise for the size tire that I want, and then make adjustments to what I want from there.

I know on a 7" wide rim, 255 is about as wide as you can go. I know some guys running 325 wide tires on the OEM 17x9 Dakota R/T rims.

are you sure your 14 ralley's aren't 14x7s?

14" Rallies were only avalible in 5.5 & 6.0 widths...

According to BF Goodrich a 215/60 is the widest tie fo a 5.5"... And a 235/60 for a 6"
