Big block in a 65 Fury - 06/18/08 09:58 PM

Hey guys, I have a chance to buy a 65 Fury 1 sedan that was a /6 car, but I'd like to put a 413 in it. I didn't know the 65 C bodies don't have a removable K-frame and the /6 mounts are no where near the 413 mounts. Has anyone done this swap? What does it take? It looks to me like either cutting and welding a new K-frame or using elephant ears. Can someone enlighten me? I'd like to make a C body A990 clone. Thanks

Crawl up under the car. It's removable, it's just a much bigger piece. That said I think I'd mount the engine/trans starting with the trans mount and get the engine in the correct location and fabricate something.

`65 C body big block mounts and subframe are a one year only oddball and you really don`t want to get into that. Best plan is to swap in a `66 or later subframe (it`s a bolt in but more involved than a K frame swap) You will need a `66 steering column too because the `65 is cable shifted.

how to remove the sub frame from a 68

I took one out once, never put one back in, so don't know how the line up stuff goes.

I didn't crawl under the car, but I didn't see where the K-frame was removable... where does it unbolt? The car was originally a /6 3-spd, but I would put a 413/727 in it, so the steering column would be an issue as it already has a floor shift column in it. How hard is it to swap the cradle and how hard are they to find?

The entire front frame section bolts in. I have dismantled a 69 Polara, but never put one back together.
