I believe they're desirable to the push-button shifter guys, because they're still cable operated but have the slip yoke on the rear instead of the older ball and trunion setup.

With Imperials conversion kit for adapting the newer 727 to the older push button style shifters not that big of demand for the 65.

Isn't Imperials kit like $365 though?I'll stick with the 65 trans I think.

I talked to the guys at Imperial Services & it is quite a bit more than that for everything. Also, there is a waiting time for getting your shifter buttons back.

A 65 slip-yoke trans is a 1-year-only trans. Desirable? Depends on who needs it. And for console-shift pre-66 cars there is a simple work-around that allows a 66-up trans to be used.
I sold a 65 trans at a swap meet last year, expecting to have a goldmine on my hands, but only one guy asked about it. He ended up beating me down to $250 (not incredibly much more than a regular 727).
