Jeep Cherokee Catalytic Converter?

Someone stole my Cat and I'm replacing it. My new cat is not marked. Does the O2 senser go twards the muffler or engine? I think it goes twards the muffler, but want to be sure before I weld. Thanks.

I've had three Cherokees and they've all had the oxygen sensors on the downpipe, not the cat. Same on my Wrangler.

the o2 sensor goes towards the muffler. in an obd2 system you have two o2 sensors. one in the down pipe and one after the cat.
