Sorry to ask this! - 05/11/09 08:41 AM

I spent an hour or so looking through past archives and current pages and can't find the answer. So sorry to ask this again after the 1,000,000th time someone has probably asked, but what is the largest tire/wheel combo anyone has fit under a '69 Dart without tubs or moving the spirings?
Thanks in advance, and once again my apologies!

Ask away. that's the whole purpose of this free (& excellent) site. Doesn't matter if it's a repeat as long as it(tech problems w multiple postings) are kept in the same thread & the solution is shared when it is finally solved )

Right now I'm running a 245/60-15 on the rear right now, and previously was running a 26x10.5. I have the wheelwell lips pounded flat, but have plenty of clearance. The 10.5 was tight, but fit in there nicely.

on my 68 Dart I ran the a-body 8 3/4 with the large brake offset on the axles with green bearings which made the whole rear axle about 1/2" wider than stock..1/4" each side,IIRC

I ran 245/60/15 on 7" rim with a 4.5 backspace

fit just right and tire was centerd in the stock wheel tub

I did not have to roll the lip on the fender

was a 1/8"-1/4" clearance on the tire bulge and spring pack

just remember to figure in the tire bulge when measuring the rim/tire combo
