What color primer to use?? - 05/08/09 10:06 PM

Okay all of you paint guys, I have a customer car that I am doing some paint work on and he is having me spray it a metallic orange (firemist orange I think). My Q is, what color primer should I use under it? Light gray or buff? Or should I tint the primer?

What base are you going to use?...some are very sensitive to primer shades and others just don't cover very well at all

Luckily it doesn't sound like you have to color match anything.

I always try to tint primer when I can but last time the vendor wouldn't do it for me

I would use a buff primer if you can on that color.

I like to use Ditzlers DP primer in the green-gray color under orange.

He bought his paint from Eastwood so I really don't know the manufacturer. That's one reason I posted this thread - I don't have any idea how well it covers.
