Difference in head gaskets? - 04/15/24 03:03 AM

Found some SB marine fel pro head gaskets for what seemed like a good deal
(Then found out rock auto has em even cheaper go figure)
Any advantage?
Disadvantage?
Reason to use them or not to use them in a mild street 318 with 302 (casting number) heads?
The car sits more than not, was the motivation for leaning towards those.
I believe the fel pro number is 17050
How do they compare to the "heavy duty" version?
Compressed thickness vs regular fel pro?
Description I see says "perma torque" like the regular car engine ones they have

Never knew they made boat specific gaskets. Looks like maybe some material changes to compensate for running water thru the engine vs antifreeze? I guess the next question is do the boat gaskets stand up to antifreeze, or are you better off to stick with the car/truck gaskets? If no solid answer appears you can always call them and ask.

Rock Auto has some good prices. Never hurts to look there and see what they carry.

The big block one is a frequently used one. I used it a few times. It is a slightly thicker gasket adding around a cc to the equation, but thats really nothing.
