Big Block Fuel pump Pushrod length? - 04/26/09 10:44 PM

Could anyone tell me the exact length of the Fuel Pump Push rod (New, unused) in a 440 block?

Also, approx. how high is the lobe on a B/RB cam that actuates the lever on the fuel pump? (Oh yeah, something's very worn...)

Thanks guys!

I don`t have the length for you but it is very common for the push rod to wear.

It happened to my ole'-man's 383 too..

Took us a while to figure out what was going on, until I posted on this site a few years back and someone came back with in minutes with the answer. Very common...

Thanks!!

Mine is worn about 1/8" on the cam end and is also concaved; Is this 1/8" loss enough to make my fuel pump not work?

You've lost 1/8th" of pump travel & it started with probably 3/8th" so you've lost 30% if the pumps delivery curve is consistant.. If it spikes after a point than you could be off by 50% or more...
